Along the Coast to Uitenhage

Day 237 from Mthaha to Uitenhage

Uitenhage, South Africa

The journey continued south toward East London, passing through vast green pastures where farmers grazed goats and sheep. The open, peaceful landscape evoked memories of Georgia, with wide horizons and a strong sense of rural calm.

In East London, the route led to one of the most scenic charging stations encountered so far, offering uninterrupted views across the ocean. From there, the drive continued toward Uitenhage, with memorable coastal passages through Hamburg and Port Alfred along the way.

Late in the evening, the coastline appeared once more. A brief 40 kW charging stop beside a restaurant provided time to recharge the vehicle and enjoy a steak before continuing on. Very late that night, the ID. Buzz arrived in Uitenhage, with anticipation building for the visit to the VW plant the following morning.

Next stop: Colesberg!
