Crossing Borders in Southern Africa

Day 240 from Johannesburg to Eswatini and Mosambik

Johannesburg, South Afrika

Southern Africa continues to prove ideal for advancing the world record project. The close proximity of many countries allows efficient travel across relatively short distances, enabling border crossings within a single stage. The route therefore included Lesotho, Mozambique, and Eswatini—three neighboring nations, each defined by distinct cultural and geographical characteristics.

From Mozambique, the journey continued back across South Africa on well-developed roads toward Gaborone, Botswana. In the mountainous region around Mbombela, an unexpected encounter with a Porsche Race Club group drive provided a striking contrast to the fully electric long-distance mission of the ID. Buzz.

In Rustenburg, the final fast-charging station of this stage marked a transition point before continuing steadily westward, setting course for the next country on the African journey.

Next stop: Gaborone!
