Day 4: Border of Estonia and Latvia

Morning on the Baltic Sea

The day began on board the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, following a 16-hour overnight crossing. Before docking, the Challenge4 team was invited to visit the ship’s bridge. The captain and crew offered their well wishes for the journey ahead, setting a positive tone for the day.

Welcome to Finland

The ferry arrived in Helsinki at 10:30 a.m., where the team headed directly to meet with Volkswagen Finland. It was a short but warm visit, hosted by Riitta, before the next leg of travel called. Another ferry, this time from Helsinki to Tallinn, would take them onward to Estonia.

A Cultural Surprise in Tallinn

Upon arrival in Tallinn, the team was met by Kristian from Volkswagen Estonia. Without knowing it, they had arrived in the middle of one of Estonia’s biggest cultural events — the Estonian Song and Dance Festival. Held only once every five years, the event fills the city with music, traditional dress, and thousands of festivalgoers.

Onward to Latvia

Before continuing south, the team made a brief stop in the coastal town of Pärnu, including a visit to its well-known beach. From there, they continued on toward the Latvian border, closing out a full day of ferry crossings, partner visits, and cultural moments.

Next stop: Riga.
