Day 48: Aktau to Beineu
Back on the Road
After three weeks of waiting, the journey resumed. The ID. Buzz rolled off the ferry in Kuryk, marking the start of the Central Asia leg. Jan rejoined the team in Aktau, and with the vehicle fully reunited, the ID. Buzz World Tour was moving once again.
Into the Kazakh Desert
The road from Aktau led straight into the vast expanse of the Kazakh desert. Under bright sunshine, the landscape opened into endless stretches of sand, scrub and stillness. It was remote and raw, a striking contrast to the cities visited earlier in the tour.
Along the way, two Italian travellers flagged the team down, curious about the tour. A short exchange, a few photos, and then it was time to keep moving.
Wild horses and camels grazed at the roadside, unfazed by the occasional vehicle. One local man proudly showed off his silver tooth—a small moment, but one that added colour to the day’s drive.
Charging and Independence
The ID. Buzz was charged at 80 kilowatts in Aktau before departure, but the route demanded more. The mobile charging unit from Stoida proved its worth once again, offering flexibility and peace of mind in such remote terrain.
With the Kazakh leg now underway, the team pushed east toward Beineu and the border crossing into Uzbekistan.
Next stop: Nukus.
