From Beyneu to Aktobe – Border Detour and Desert Vibes

Day 50: Border to Uzbekistan, Beyneu

After a short night in Beyneu, we hit the road toward the Uzbekistan border. Unfortunately, due to reconstruction work, the crossing was only open to trucks. A quick call with the German Embassy confirmed what we feared — the wait would be far too long.

So we made the decision to take the long detour via Shymkent.

The desert landscape along the way was both harsh and striking. Endless wide-open terrain, with little more than sky, sand, and the road ahead. The ID. Buzz drew plenty of attention as we passed through — a bright yellow dot on the Kazakh horizon.

In the evening, after hours of waiting at a traditional Kazakh restaurant, we continued on toward Aktobe.

Next stop: Aktobe.
