From Holyhead to Dublin – Across the Irish Sea and Into the City

Day 8: Dublin, Ireland

Ferry Crossing to Ireland

The day began in Holyhead on the Welsh coast, where the team boarded an early morning ferry to Ireland. With a cabin on board and a smooth four-hour crossing, the trip offered a rare opportunity to rest after a demanding week on the road.

Early Arrival in Dublin

The ferry arrived in Dublin at 5 a.m., where the team was met by Graeme from Volkswagen Ireland. Despite the early hour, he offered a warm welcome and a short introduction to the city, including a quick stop at the well-known U2 Studios.

Local Check-In and Police Report

As part of the tour’s verification process, the team stopped at a local police station to file an eyewitness report. In a fitting twist, the officer who assisted them happened to speak German, having previously worked as an au pair in Germany.

Visit to Volkswagen Group Ireland

Later in the morning, the team visited Volkswagen Group Ireland. A short presentation was given to the local team, offering an update on the journey so far and the performance of the ID. Buzz and GitiSynergyH₂ tyres across the first 15 countries.

With the visit complete, the crew returned to the ferry terminal to continue the next leg of the journey.

Next stop: Milton Keynes.
