Day 244 from Kasane to Livingstone
Livingstone, Zambia
The journey began in Kasane, Botswana’s renowned hotspot for wildlife viewing, heading west toward Namibia. From the very first kilometers, full concentration was required, with elephant dung scattered across the road and gazelles repeatedly and unexpectedly crossing the route.
The border crossing into Namibia was completed quickly and without complications. The first 30 kilometers on Namibian soil were marked by the sight of a freshly slaughtered cow by the roadside, a stark reminder of the realities of rural travel.
On the return route to Kasane, Botswana once again demonstrated its extraordinary wildlife density. Hyenas, giraffes, and elephants crossed the road, transforming the drive into a moving safari experience. The new Zambezi Bridge, which has replaced the long-standing ferry connection, stood as a symbol of the region’s infrastructural progress and improved cross-border connectivity.
In the evening, the vehicle was charged for the first time by energy partner ZESCO in Livingstone, marking an important step forward in Zambia.
Next stop: Lusaka!
