Day 98: Malacca, Malaysia

Press Conference in Kuala Lumpur

The day began with a well-attended media event at the Volkswagen Malaysia showroom in Kuala Lumpur. Over forty journalists turned up, keen to hear about the ID. Buzz World Tour and its cross-continental journey. Interest was high, and the vehicle made a strong impression.

An interview with Dr. Enki Tan, CEO of Giti Tire, followed immediately after the event. Then, joined by a local Key Opinion Leader, the team departed the capital and headed for Malacca.

Historic Stop in Malacca

Malacca’s streets offered a dramatic change of pace, with its Dutch heritage on full display. The team made time to photograph the ID. Buzz near the terracotta-coloured Christ Church, built in 1753, and visited the replica of the Dutch East India Company ship docked nearby—a reminder of the city’s colonial roots.

Charging and Final Logistics

A hyper-fast charging session was completed alongside an electric bus, giving the ID. Buzz enough range to tackle the final stages of the Southeast Asian route. Before continuing, the team visited Volkswagen Johor, whose assistance and coordination will be key to the next leg.
