Day 99–101: Malacca, Malaysia to Singapore
Border Crossing and City Arrival
Crossing from Malaysia into Singapore via the Woodlands border checkpoint marked a key symbolic moment on the ID. Buzz World Tour. It was here the overland route through Eurasia reached its end—at the southern tip of continental Asia. The formalities were smooth, and the transition into one of Asia’s most modern cities felt both celebratory and significant.
On the morning of 8th October, the team held a press event at the Volkswagen Singapore showroom. Journalists, brand partners, and invited guests gathered to hear about the cross-continental journey so far, welcoming the ID. Buzz into Singapore with genuine enthusiasm.
Driving Through the City – Landmarks and Local Connection
Later that day, the vehicle toured through Singapore’s best-known sights—from the shimmering skyline at Marina Bay to colonial-era architecture and vibrant shopping streets. The contrast between modern towers and green public spaces provided a picturesque setting for photographs and video content.
That evening, a customer gathering brought together over twenty ID. Buzz owners and fans, forming a circle around the tour vehicle. It was a moment of pride and connection—one that visually captured the spirit of the project.
Departure Preparations – Port, Packaging, and a New Horizon
On 9th October, the journey continued briefly back into Malaysia—this time to the port of Tanjung Pelepas. There, the ID. Buzz was carefully cleaned, cleared of all equipment, and prepared for ocean transport.
Loaded into a Maersk shipping container, the vehicle is now en route to Indonesia. The next chapter begins soon, with Jakarta set as the next official start point for the world tour’s Southeast Asian leg.
Next stop: Jakarta
