From Semarang to Surabaya – Convoys, Community, and Tropical Roads

Day 124–125

Rolling with the Classics

The first of November marked our departure from Semarang, continuing east across Java toward Surabaya. Once again, the Volkswagen Club Indonesia turned out in full force—classic T1s, T2s, and other vintage icons transforming the motorway into a cheerful procession of history and enthusiasm. The convoy drew attention at every turn, uniting generations of Volkswagen heritage under tropical skies.

Press, Passion, and Rain-Soaked Roads

Surabaya welcomed us with a well-attended press conference, where curiosity about the ID. Buzz and our journey remained high. Afterwards, we were invited to a vibrant community event hosted by Volkswagen—a celebration of the brand’s enduring legacy in Indonesia. Dozens of proud owners showcased their vehicles, sharing stories and camaraderie in a joyful atmosphere.

With the festivities behind us and spirits lifted, we resumed our journey. Rain swept in, true to Indonesia’s rainy season, draping the landscape in mist and reflection as we made our way toward the island’s eastern shores.

Next stop: Bali
