Day 126
Early Departure and Ocean Views
The day began with eager anticipation. Departing Surabaya before the city’s traffic reached full swing, the team managed to capture a few calm, early-morning photographs—quiet moments framed by the slowly waking city.
From there, the route hugged the coast, revealing expansive sea views shimmering under a rising sun. With the ocean stretching out on one side and lush greenery on the other, the drive offered a peaceful rhythm, each kilometre reinforcing the beauty of overland travel.
Convoy to the Island
After leaving the national highway, the ID. Buzz was met by a police escort who accompanied the final stretch to the ferry terminal—turning the journey into something of a ceremonial drive. The presence of the escort gave the trip a sense of celebration and welcome as we neared the island of Bali.
At the ferry port, the challenge was finding space aboard. As always, the process was a meticulous puzzle—vehicles carefully wedged together to fill every possible centimetre. It’s never guaranteed, but this time, luck was on our side.
Arrival and a Familiar Symbol
The day concluded on Bali, where generous support from a local Giti Tire subsidiary ensured a smooth stay. One unexpected moment stood out: spotting a flower-painted ID. Buzz—an unmistakable nod to the flower-power era, now revived in electric form.
Next stop: Jakarta!
