Day 75+76: Shanghai to Hefei
The journey from Suzhou to Hefei brought the team into the heart of China’s rapidly growing automotive landscape. Hefei has gained a strong reputation as a centre for vehicle innovation, with both Volkswagen and main sponsor Giti maintaining key research and development facilities in the city. Locals refer to the Volkswagen site simply as “the Campus,” a testament to its size and influence.
The stops in Hefei included visits to both Giti and Volkswagen’s R&D centre, where interest in the ID. Buzz World Tour was met with genuine enthusiasm. Staff and onlookers alike showed curiosity and support for the electric van’s global route and the endurance testing underway.
