New Borders Ahead – Entering Tanzania

Day 248 from Mpika to Mbeya

Mbeya, Tansania

The day began very early, with a long distance ahead and the goal of reaching and crossing the border into Tanzania. Along the route, a short stop was made at a local school, where students were introduced to the vehicle and the concept of electric mobility, creating a small but meaningful exchange.

Throughout the day, recurring rain showers accompanied the journey. Despite the weather, a charging stop was completed while staying dry. Since departing Mpika, road conditions remained challenging, with deep potholes and rough surfaces slowing progress. Only after another charging stop near the border did the road quality begin to improve.

Late in the evening, the border into Tanzania was finally reached and crossed. A new country lay ahead, bringing new challenges, new impressions, and the unmistakable presence of the region’s iconic tuk-tuks.

Next stop: Mbeyer, Tansania!
