On the Road to Malawi – Between Plantations and Border Traffic

Day 249 from Mbeya to Border Malawie

Mbeya, Tansania

The day began very early, with a long distance ahead and the objective of reaching the border toward Malawi. Along the route, a short stop was made at a local school, providing an opportunity to explain the vehicle and the concept of electric mobility to the students in a small but meaningful exchange.

Recurring rain showers accompanied the journey throughout the day. Despite the weather, a charging stop was completed while remaining dry. Road conditions since leaving Mpika continued to be demanding, with deep potholes and rough surfaces significantly slowing progress. Only after another charging stop close to the border did the road quality begin to improve.

Late in the evening, the border area was finally reached. A new country lay ahead, bringing fresh challenges, new impressions, and the unmistakable presence of the region’s iconic tuk-tuks.

Next stop: Mbeyer, Tansania!
